Hi Ladies,
The new Ladies Singles League is now live, and you can start arranging your matches!
Please see the league rules below, including the match format, scoring and promotion and relegation system.
Roehampton Club – Ladies Singles League Rules
1. League Format
Each league will consist of between four and six players.
Each player should aim to play every other player in their league once during the league period.
Players are responsible for arranging their own matches.
All matches must be completed before the published league deadline.
2. Match Format and Scoring
Each match consists of 15 games.
Players play normal tennis games using standard scoring.
If the score reaches 7–7, a tie-break is played to seven points, with a two-point winning margin.
The winner of the tie-break wins the match 8–7.
All games won count towards the player's overall league total.
3. League Standings
League positions are determined by the total number of games won during the league period.
If two or more players finish with the same number of games won, positions will be determined in the following order:
Matches played: The player who has completed the most matches finishes higher.
Head-to-head result: If players have completed the same number of matches, the winner of their head-to-head match finishes higher.
Racquets Team decision: If players still cannot be separated, the Racquets Team will determine the final positions.
4. Promotion and Relegation
Leagues with five or six players
The top two players will be promoted one league.
The bottom two players will be relegated one league.
Leagues with four players
The top player will be promoted one league.
The bottom player will be relegated one league.
There is no promotion from League 1 or relegation from League 3, unless additional leagues are introduced.
The Racquets Team may adjust promotion and relegation where necessary to accommodate new players, withdrawals or changes in league sizes.
5. Minimum Match Requirements
Players must complete at least two matches to qualify for promotion.
Players are expected to make every effort to complete all their matches.
Players who do not complete any matches may be relegated or removed from the following league cycle.
6. Match Arrangements
Players should contact their opponents promptly to arrange matches.
Players must respond to match requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Any difficulties arranging matches should be reported to the Racquets Team before the league deadline.
7. Withdrawals and New Players
Players wishing to withdraw should notify the Racquets Team.
New players will be placed in an appropriate league based on their playing standard.
The Racquets Team reserves the right to adjust league allocations to maintain balanced and competitive leagues.
Good luck and enjoy your tennis!
Dan
